Demand to address staff shortage at hospital

October 26, 2017 08:46 pm | Updated 08:46 pm IST - Kozhikode

The district panchayat council on Thursday called upon the State government to immediately review the old staff pattern of the district hospital at Vadakara and consider the appointment of required staff to streamline its functioning.

District panchayat president Babu Parassery, who moved the motion at the panchayat council meeting citing the staff crunch at the hospital, said no government looked into the poor staff strength though it was upgraded as district hospital by name. The number of doctors and nursing staff was very low though the hospital was selected for implementing the State government’s Aardram scheme, he said.

The panchayat meeting also discussed the controversy over the distribution of school textbooks with communal contents. Condemning the incident, the meet also called for stringent actions against the persons involved in the issue.

District panchayat vice president Reena Mundengattu, Standing committee chairpersons P.K. Sajitha, Mukkom Mohammed, P.G. George and Sujatha Manakkal were present, among others, at the meeting.
