The All India Craft and Handloom Expo organised by the Kerala State Handicrafts Apex Cooperative Society’s Surabhi emporium in Kozhikode since October 16, has a rare blend of some of the finest handicraft and handloom products in the country.

As usual, different types of textile products have been given a prominence in the expo that features a variety of sarees like the Sambalpuri silk and cotton sarees from Odisha and the Chettinadu cotton and Madurai Shungidi sarees from Tamil Nadu. It also houses a good collection of Bhagalpuri silk dress materials along with trendy kurtis. Batik dress materials, that are timeless, are also available. The expo also has a large collection of printed bedsheets from Jaipur as well as designer bedsheets. The woven and embroidered sofa covers, bed sheets, cushion and pillow covers are greatly in demand.

Most sought after

Sculptures of deities made in bonze, brass and other metals besides sandal and other wood, and those carved in marble are the most sought after among the handicraft products. There is quite a good display of jewellery studded with precious stones, besides gold plated jewellery.

The expo being held at the CSI Hall in Kozhikode, will conclude on November 6.
