The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded a fresh probe in the recent case relating to the molestation of a minor girl in a private English medium school at Parakkadavu, near Nadapuram, alleging that the investigation had been undermined by the Crime Branch, which had probed the case. At a press conference here on Tuesday, BJP State president V. Muraleedharan said that the case had been sabotaged to protect members of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), who were accused in the case.
Mr. Muraleedharan said the government should not be a mute witness to its allies misusing power after getting involved in heinous crime.
He criticised the way the State government had tackled political violence at Nadapuram. Mr. Muraleedharan said that the government should be ready take strict action against violators of law in the region instead of trying to effect a compromise between the rioters and the victims after withdrawing the cases.
The government should extract compensation from the rioters and give it to the victims instead of using funds from the public exchequer.
Aranmula
Clarifying that the BJP State unit was still against an airport at Aranmula, Mr. Muraleedharan said that the Union government had not yet included the airport project in its project plans and had only included it in its economic survey.
He said the State unit would accept the party decisions taken at the national level even if it was in favour of the airport.
“It is not our practice to have divergent views on a single matter at the State and national levels,” he said.
