The free tablet computers sanctioned by the State government as part of promoting digital literacy programmes and e-Aadhaar enrolment of children were handed over to selected Akshaya entrepreneurs on Saturday.

IT Mission officials said 154 selected entrepreneurs accepted the tablets at a district-level event opened by A. Pradeepkumar, MLA.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Pradeepkumar said the services of the Askhaya centres could be expanded in such a way to cover more people in the days to come.

“The quick delivery of various e-services of the government was made a reality in the State mainly because of the presence of Akshaya centres,” he said.

Akshaya project coordinators said that the allotted tablet computers would help the local Akshaya centres to offer Aadhaar enrolment and other selected online services at the doorsteps of citizens in the district.

They said it would mainly help local entrepreneurs speed up Aadhaar enrolment of children and processing of life certificates.

District Collector Seeram Sambasiva Rao chaired the event. IT Mission District Project Manager Midhun Krishna, Project Coordinator P.S. Ashitha, District Informatics Officer Mercy Sebastian and District IT Cell Coordinator Ajith Prasad were present.

A training session on various e-services was organised for the entrepreneurs.
