A 60-year-old man was found murdered in his paddy field in Vettuvanam village in Pallikonda police station limits on Monday.

Kasinathan was a resident of Vettuvanam. He was a farmer and owned land in his village. On Monday around 2 p.m., Perumal, one of the labourers, found him lying in a pool of blood in the field. Injuries were found on his head and neck.

He immediately alerted the Pallikonda police and Inspector Ramamurthy and team rushed to the spot. Simba, the sniffer dog, was also pressed into service.

During investigation, it was found that Kasinathan’s daughter Jayanthi had called her father. “She claims that someone else answered the call. The person allegedly said that he had pledged his land documents and borrowed money from Kasinathan. However, despite returning the money, he did not return the documents. Hence, he murdered her father,” said a police officer.

A special team has been formed to crack the case.
