The release of actor Simbu’s Vaalu will be delayed further as the Madras High Court on Tuesday granted an interim stay on its scheduled release on July 17.
Hearing a plaint filed against the release of the film, Justice K. Ravichandrabaabu granted an interim stay observing that he found a prima facie case was made out for the grant of interim injunction.
Plaintiff Magnum Rays, a film production company, had claimed that though the film’s distribution rights in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages were sold to it in 2013, the film was scheduled for released on July 17 through another company.
A sum of Rs. 9.53 crore was paid by the plaintiff for the film on an agreement signed on May 29, 2013 and the film was to be released on July 17 in violation of certain provisions of the agreement and hence the plaint.
