U.S. nuclear scientists visit Kalpakkam

A five member team of scientists from the U.S. on Thursday visited the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) at Kalpakkam, about 80 km from Chennai and held discussions on some ongoing projects with top officials of the establishment.

“It was only a periodic visit. The exchange of information was on the status of some ongoing projects at the establishment. They (American delegation) will be visiting MAPS tomorrow,” a senior IGCAR official told PTI .

The delegation, led by USNRC chairman Gregory B. Jaczko met the IGCAR Director and top scientists of the nuclear establishment and also visited facilities at BHAVINI (Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited), he said.
