Tibetan poet Tenzin Tsundue released from Puzhal prison

Among 14 Tibetans released prior to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Chennai

Tenzin Tsundue, the award-winning poet and writer who was arrested ahead of the Chinese President’s visit to the city was released from Central Prison, Puzhal, on Wednesday.

Though 13 other Tibetans, who were also arrested prior to the VVIP's visit, were released on Tuesday, he remained in the prison as his bail paper had not reached prison officials.

On October 6, Tenzin was arrested at Kottakuppam in Villuppuram ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Mamallapuram. He was carrying ‘Free Tibet’ materials and pamphlets. He was sent to Central Prison, Puzhal following orders of a magistrate in Villupuram district.
