Shop burgled, cash stolen in Chennai

A burglar broke into a rice shop on MTH Road in Villivakkam on Sunday night, and stole Rs. 30,000. A CCTV camera installed at the shop captured footage of the burglar.

Police said the burglar gained entry into the shop through an entrance in the owner’s house, which is on the first floor of the same building. The burglar then opened the cash box, stole the money and fled. The shop owner, Ranganathan filed a complaint with the ICF police.

The police examined the CCTV footage and said the man could be seen descending the stairs and stealing the money, but his face was not clearly visible. A case has been registered and a probe is on.
