Jayam Ravi is believed to be playing a patient who has been unconscious for several years, and wakes up to see Rajinikanth making the grand announcement on television.

After watching it, the character refuses to believe that several years have passed and that the character is still living in the year 1996 when the actor was expected to start a political party. The hashtag #BoycottComali started trending on Twitter, while celebrities who tweeted the trailer for its humour got trolled by the fans.

Makkal Needhi Maiam spokesperson Murali Abbas on social media informed that Kamal Haasan had called up the film’s producer, Isari K. Ganesh, to express his displeasure about the trailer. Kamal Haasan reportedly told the producer that the trailer was neither in good taste nor enjoyable.
