When it is not possible for many to survive without a mobile phone even for a minute, a 25-year-old murder suspect has kept the police on their toes. He has remained undetectable without his cell phone and bank cards.

This has forced the law enforcers to resort to traditional methods to hunting down accused through ‘wanted’ posters.

It has been nearly three months since Aruna Srinivasan (22) was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend Dinesh Kannapan (25) at his apartment in Nammalwarpet near Ayanavaram. But till date, the police do not have a clue about his whereabouts.

Now they have prepared a poster with a photograph of Dinesh, height and other details on him. It also gives a gist of the crime he is suspected to have committed. “We will be sending this to all police stations and pasting it at bus stops and railway stations,” a police personnel said.

Soon after the murder, the police tried to nab him by tracking his cell phone signals. “But he had left behind the equipment. Even his bank cards are with us; hence he hasn’t used any ATM. He hasn’t tried to contact his family or friends either. Due to this it has become impossible for us to track him,” said a senior police officer.

The police also combed all pilgrim centres in the State. “These are spots where free food and accommodation is available. But we could not find him there too. Now we are planning to co-ordinate with police in other States too to find if he is there,” added the officer. Police suspect that Dinesh would be surviving on the cash he took from his house while leaving. “We have combed most of Tamil Nadu and Bangalore. But there is no clue about him,” the officer said.
