Plea to show black flags to Kerala CM

Published - December 14, 2018 01:25 am IST - CHENNAI

Arjun Sampath of Hindu Makkal Katchi has filed a writ petition in the Madras High Court seeking a direction to the Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai, to grant him permission to show black flags to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during his visit to Chennai on Sunday for the unveiling of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s statue.

The petitioner claimed Mr. Vijayan had wounded the sentiments of Hindus by implementing the Supreme Court order on permitting entry of women into the Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala. Hence, he wanted to show black flags to him at Chennai airport as well as the DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam where the statue is to be installed. The case is expected to be listed for hearing on Friday.
