Prof. T.V. Devarajan (inset), a city doctor, is to be conferred the Padma Shri. Dr. Devarajan, a B.C. Roy awardee, taught at the Madras Medical College for 29 years without drawing a salary.

Seven employees of the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services have received the President’s Medal. They are deputy director (northern region) N. Vijayasekar, divisional officers Meenakshi Vijayakumar and V. Manivannan, and firemen A. Boopathi, P. Vijay, J. Muthiah and S.N. Suresh Kumar.
