Principal Sessions Judge P.Devadoss will pass orders on June 22 on an application seeking to withdraw a complaint against two State Ministers, the Assembly Speaker and another person for allegedly defaming former Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi.

The complaint, filed by the City Public Prosecutor during the DMK rule, sought to punish O.Panneerselvam and K.A.Sengottaiyan, Ministers, D.Jayakumar, Speaker, and P.H.Manoj Pandian, advocates wing secretary, for a news item published in newspapers that the AIADMK had written to the Election Commission alleging that the DMK government had ordered the shifting of various government departments to the new Secretariat complex to destroy important documents and files. The order to shift the departments violated the model code of conduct.

The then CPP had said the news item was published at the instigation of the four persons.

The present CPP filed an application seeking to withdraw the complaint. When the matter came up, the G.O. relating to withdrawal of the case was produced. Counsel for the accused said he had no objection to the withdrawal.
