Crossing Velachery Main Road, near Vijaya Nagar bus terminus and Velachery MRTS station, will be less of a challenge now to pedestrians. For, a zebra-crossing has been laid at the intersection of Velachery Main Road and Seetharam Nagar Main Road, Velachery. Commuters appreciate the efforts taken by Chennai Traffic Police.

Earlier, in the absence of a zebra-crossing, pedestrians were forced to jump over medians. Senior citizens and women would try to squeeze themselves through the space between lamp posts on the median. To reach Velachery Main Road, a few pedestrians used to cross the median on Velachery flyover, which are small, square-shaped concrete slabs. Others used to cross the gate of a police control room below the flyover, near the intersection of Velachery Main Road and Southern Sector Inner Ring Road. But now, after the zebra-crossing has been laid, the height of medians on the flyover has been raised and the openings are blocked. Traffic police have promised to deploy a personnel at the intersection.
