Krea University has got into a partnership with the Dalai Lama Centre For Ethics and Transformative Values to introduce ethics in its UG curriculum.

Krea University, an upcoming liberal arts and sciences university, will commence classes for the first batch of undergraduate students from August 2019.

Interwoven learning

The institution will be introducing interwoven learning — arts with sciences and intellectual inquiry with experiential education.

Ethics constitutes one of the eight guiding principles of the curriculum laid out by the university’s academic council. It is also proposed as a mandatory skill course for all UG students.

Sunder Ramaswamy, the university’s vice-chancellor, said that the tie-up will provide an opportunity for the students to engage with ethical questions, refine their purpose and understand the societal impact of their actions.

Tenzin Priyadarshini, founding president, Dalai Lama Centre, said that ethics should not be just taught as a separate subject but should permeate all forms of learning in the undergraduate curriculum.

The Centre will also start facilitating sessions with Krea faculty members on ethical learning and pedagogy early next year.
