In an intensive drive to crack crimes reported in March, city police have allegedly retrieved Rs. 3.5 crore-worth of stolen property.
The police said special teams had seized diamond jewellery, 813 sovereigns of gold jewellery, electronic goods and automobiles and apprehended 121 offenders.
Addressing the media at the police commissionerate on Friday, Rajesh Das, additional commissioner, law & order (South and East), said special teams were formed that cracked the cases, folllowing thorough probes.
“Stolen property including jewellery, cash and automobiles will be handed over to the rightful owners. Apart from these, 50 chain snatchers and 37 others involved in other forms of theft have been arrested,” Mr. Das said.
