Foundation hopes to go viral with homeopathy

Eight homeopaths from across the country have come together to form the Global Homeopathy Foundation to spread awareness on homeopathy and prove its efficacy.

In a step towards this, the foundation is planning to organise various awareness initiatives within the country and abroad. The Global Homeopathic Summit at Dubai during January 2016 is one of them.

Lack of awareness

“The biggest challenge for homeopathy practitioners is the lack of awareness about the system. Through the foundation, we want to take homeopathy to the common man. The summit is for the common man. We will be explaining the benefits, effectiveness and scientificity of homeopathy to the people. World leaders, who are believers of homeopathy, will share their experiences,” Jayesh V. Sanghvi, vice-chairman of the foundation, said.

2nd largest medicine system

With April 10 being celebrated as World Homeopathy Day, Dr. Sanghvi said, according to the World Health Organisation, homeopathy is the second largest system of medicine to be practised, next to allopathy.

Scientific trials of homeopathy drugs are under way through the Central Council for Research in Homeopathy, he said, adding, “Two years ago, a study proved the effectiveness of homeopathy drugs. The more you dilute, the more is the power of homeopathy medicines. This is similar to nanotechnology.”

The foundation wants to take forward the role of homeopathy drugs, including in preventive care for dengue and H1N1, and chronic diseases such as asthma, skin disorders, renal failure and cancer.

“Homeopathy is an alternative medicine and a complementary medicine,” Dr. Sanghvi said.
