Mahindra World School, located in Mahindra World City, recently received the National School Sanitation Award, 2012. The school was ranked amongst the top six schools of India, and was at the top position in Tamil Nadu. The award was instituted by the Central Board of Secondary Education in association with the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Ministry of Urban Development and Deutsche Gesellschaftfür Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (formerly known as GTZ).
Nirmala Krishnan, Principal, Mahindra World School, received the award from M.M. Pallam Raju, Minister for Human Resource Development. The presentation took place at a function held in New Delhi.
After receiving the award, she said, “Mahindra World School has been providing holistic education that would eventually transform society.”
The National School Sanitation Initiative, launched in 2009, is given to those schools that have taken steps towards betterment of the sanitation scenario in their schools. Ms. Sangeeta Prasad, CEO, Mahindra World City Developers Ltd., also spoke during the event.
Mahindra World School is also the recipient of the International School Award initiated by the British Council.
