Businessman robbed of Rs. 60 lakh in Kancheepuram

A businessman from Vellore was reportedly waylaid by a gang near Thamal on the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway around noon on Wednesday.

A businessman from Vellore was reportedly waylaid by a gang near Thamal on the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway around noon on Wednesday.

According to police, a gang which followed Ashok’ car, pelted stones on the vehicle.

When Ashok’s driver got down from the car to assess the damage, the culprits alighted from the vehicle and started attacking Ashok and his men.

Meanwhile, one of the gang members took away a bag containing Rs.60 lakh from Ashok’s car. Subsequently, the gang fled from the scene.

Ashok claimed that he carried Rs.60 lakh in three bags amounting to Rs. 1.20 crore.

The Baluchettychatram police are investigating the case.
