Awards for scholars

Tamil Nadu government has announced the names of those who have been selected for various awards that will be given away on January 16.

The award ceremony will be held at the Museum Hall at Egmore. The award carries Rs 1 lakh in cash, a gold medal and a citation.

Tirukurak Bhaskaran will get Tiruvalluvar award and Dawooji Gupta will get Thanthai Periyar award. The other awardees are Azhi Ku. Mahalingam (Annal Ambedkar award), Ms Kasturi Raja (Perarignar Anna award), Karumuthu T. Kannan (Perunthalaival Kamarasar award), Ilasai Sundaram (Mahahavi Bharathiyar award), Kanmathiyan (Pavendar Bharathidasan award), Karu. Nagarajan (Tamil Thendral Tiri.Vi.Ka award) and A.M. James (Mutamizh Kavalar KAP Viswanatham award). Besides 30 senior Tamil scholars will get financial assistance.
