The Chennai police have objected to the anticipatory bail plea of two persons in connection with a case of alleged cheating of a woman hailing from Cudappah in Andhra Pradesh.
In her intervening petition before the Madras High Court, the complainant, K.S. Prasantha Lakshmi, stated that Jagadeesh Kumar and his wife Anila, who run the Travancore Raja Vaithya Salai at Mylapore, had taken Rs. 4 lakh, promising to cure her psoriasis.
She did not benefit from the treatment. On the other hand, it resulted in worse side effects and her health deteriorated.
Opposing the bail petition, Inspector of Police, Mylapore, S. Ragupathi, stated that if the duo were released on bail, they would continue their activities and also tamper with evidence. Their custodial interrogation was necessary to ensure a fair investigation. He prayed the court to dismiss the petition.
The matter has been posted after the summer vacation.
