One arrested for forging letter to participate in tender process

The CB-CID has arrested one person on charges of forging a letter and using it to participate in the tender process for Chennai Metrowater's desalination plant in Minjur.

According to a press release, the accused, Subramanian P. Thiruvickraman (56), a power agent for M/s Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Centre, Moscow, was arrested on Sunday for attaching a letter purportedly issued by ISRO to seek exemption from furnishing the initial bid security in the tender process.

The Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board forwarded the letter from ISRO presented by M/s Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Centre for verification to ISRO.

The controller of ISRO replied that the letter was forged and not issued by it.

On the direction from the Madras High Court, the Managing Director of CMWSSB had filed a complaint against Subramanian P. Thiruvickraman to CB-CID Metro unit on April 16, 2006.

The case was registered on May 25, 2006.

During the course of investigation, the accused was arrested and produced before the 11th Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet, and remanded in judicial custody for 15 days. Further investigations are on, the release said.
