Man tries to cut off thumb

A member of the AIADMK created a flutter near the residence of the party general secretary Jayalalithaa by almost chopping off his left thumb on Thursday.

According to police sources, ‘Bullet' Parimalam (45) of Kancheepuram, a functionary of the Jaya Peravai used a sharp knife to cut his thumb and raised slogans protesting the delay in unveiling the statue of former Chief Minister MGR in Kancheepuram. A major portion of his thumb was cut off. Police shifted him to a nearby hospital.
