Actor Kamal Haasan is having a busy year. After the stupendous success of Papanasam, his next Thoongavanam , which he says is a ‘smart thriller,’ is getting ready for a likely release on Deepavali.

The actor unveiled the trailer of his new film, which apparently is said to be inspired by a French film, Sleepless Night, at a press meet in Chennai.

“It is a very interesting fast-paced thriller. It is a slick, fashionable film with all the action. What will be special is the action in the film — I am not talking about just jumping buildings. We got a special stunt team from France. The stunts will really be the bone-crunching kind,” he said. After Uttama Villain and Papanasam, Thoongavanam will be Kamal Haasan’s third release this year.

“It is a bilingual because our audience is 14 crore people living in Andhra Pradesh, Telengana and Tamil Nadu. They are treated as two separate movies,” he said.

The film is directed by Mr. Haasan’s assistant, Rajesh M. Selva. “Working for Raaj Kamal International is like working for a film factory. I am honoured to have directed a film with Kamal Haasan in the lead,” he said.

“I have seen him grow over the last seven-eight years working at Raaj Kamal International,” said actor Gautami, costume designer of the film.

The film also stars Trisha and Prakash Raj.
