Members of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Monday staged a demonstration in Pallavaram charging the municipal administration with failure to provide quality amenities to residents.
Led by former Minister Nainar Nagendran, the cadre raised slogans against the Pallavaram municipal administration and its elected representatives. They said the massive underground drainage project was already behind schedule by more than two years and there seemed to be no sign of its completion in the immediate future. Road restoration works after digging for laying sewer lines too were poor.
The quantity and quality of drinking water supplied to residents in all 42 wards was far below satisfactory, the partymen charged. South Chennai Lok Sabha MP C.Rajendran and former municipal chairman Dhan Singh were also present.
