The police are on the lookout for a gang of women who are targeting men in and around Majestic. In the most recent case, a 26-year-old man from Kunigal, who had come to city for work, was robbed by two women who threatened to accuse him of sexually harassing them. They took ₹3,250 from him on Monday.

The victim, Mahalingaiah K., had come to Bengaluru on work and was waiting on the busy K.G. Road for an autorickshaw to go to Richmond Circle. As he was boarding one, two women forced themselves into the auto and demanded his cash and valuables. They threatened to create a ruckus and tell people that he was molesting them. Mahalingaiah told the police that he tried to reason with them, but failed. After taking his money, they pushed him out of the vehicle and sped away.

The Upparpet police have taken up a case of robbery and are on the lookout for the women. “At least two similar cases have been reported in the Majestic area in the last one month. We have formed a special Obavva squad, comprising women police personnel, to track down the gang,” said a senior police officer.

Last Wednesday, 25-year-old Manikanta was robbed by two women, who lured him with the offer of sexual favours, while he was waiting for a bus at the KSRTC bus stand to return to his village K.R. Pete in Mandya district. Manikanta had followed them to an isolated place where the duo overpowered him and took ₹1,300 from him.

Last September, a woman robbed Ajit Das, 28, who had reached the railway station from his home town in Tripura in search of a job. The women took his mobile phone, ₹900 and an ID document.
