Irked by the alleged erratic evaluation of answer scripts and changes to some of the revaluation processes, hundreds of engineering students from colleges affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) began a three-day protest here on Monday.
The students said that they wanted the university to address their concerns and come up with a permanent solution. One of the students said: “Why can’t the university provide us with the marks we have secured? Why do we have to spend on revaluation. We smell foul play in this.”
The students had even approached Higher Education Minister C.N. Ashwath Narayan, but said that they still have not got a solution. They have planned to go on hunger strike if the university did not address their concerns this week.
The students pointed out that as per the University Grants Commission norms, if an examination scheme is introduced it should be continued for the next four years, but VTU introduced/revised the exam scheme within a span of three years.

VTU officials, however, said: “If there are systemic problems, then we are willing to address them.”
