The Vidhana Soudha police have booked two men who allegedly misused the vehicle pass issued to C.R. Manohar, member of Legislative Council.
The crime came to light when the Mangaluru police stopped an SUV, which had an MLC vehicle pass. It was being driven by Nagaraj Nagabhushan, a resident of Bengaluru. He showed the police a pass with Mr. Manohar’s name.
The police reached out to the MLC’s office to verify if the vehicle belonged to him, but Mr. Manohar denied ownership of the vehicle. On being questioned, Nagaraj claimed the vehicle had been driven in Mangaluru from August 25 to 29. He claimed to have got the vehicle pass from Arun Kumar S.
Mr. Manohar later filed a police complaint accusing the duo of misusing his name and sought a probe into whether the forged pass had been misused in the past.
Based on the complaint, the police booked Nagaraj and Arun for cheating and forgery.
Some months ago, the security division of Vidhana Soudha came under scrutiny after a man attempted to kill himself in the premises. He had availed of a gate pass. A probe revealed that the staff in charge of security had failed to conduct the necessary checks before issuing the pass.
