Fifteen minutes after students completed their practicals for the Master of Dental Surgery and Diploma in Dentistry examination on Thursday, they were given their results by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). This is a record for the varsity which adopted digital evaluation in May 2015.

University vice chancellor S. Sacchidanand said that digital evaluation has revolutionised the manner in which the results are processed. “Synchronised and coordinated effort made this possible,” he said.

M.K. Ramesh, Registrar (Evaluation) of the university, said that the examinations were conducted in June/July 2018 in nine specialities of MDS and five specialities of dental diploma courses. The results were announced by RGUHS within 15 minutes of completion of the clinical examination on Thursday.

The results of 833 students were ready at 5.15 p.m. and were posted on the university’s website at 5.30 p.m. A press release issued by the university said that marks secured in each subject, class obtained, result and names of colleges are available online.

Students had given the theory examination papers between June 14 and June 22. The practical examinations — from July 3 to July 12 — were conducted in a staggered manner in 30 centres across the State. Thursday’s examination was conducted between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Both the theory and the practical examination results were subjected to four evaluations — two internal evaluations and two external evaluations by people from outside the State.

Students have lauded the university for this initiative.

“Normally, the wait for results is exhausting, and can range from anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months.. This time, we were surprised that the results were announced so quickly,” an MDS student said.
