The Cubbon Park police raided the house of Uday K.M. in Malleswaram on Tuesday in connection with a cheating and forgery case registered against him in 2017.

The raid was conducted by the police with a search warrant executed by the ACMM court. Sources said that Uday managed to escape when the police reached his residence.

The police also raided the house of Uday’s friend K.V. Naidu in Dollars Colony. Sources said some documents pertaining to the case were recovered from both places.

Uday came into the spotlight after Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy accused him of being one among three anti-social elements involved in ‘Operation Kamala’ to topple the government at the behest of the BJP, which was allegedly wooing MLAs with cash to join that party.

BJP’s State president B.S. Yeddyurappa had rubbished Mr. Kumaraswamy’s claim and challenged him to take legal action after proving his statement.

The police searched several hotels in the Central Business District where the trio had reportedly met the MLAs and handed over money. The police even recovered CCTV footage from these hotels.
