Police arrest two, recover 30 kg of red sanders

The Jalahalli police, on Friday, arrested two persons and recovered 30 kg of red sanders from them.

Based on a tip-off, a team of police intercepted Tabrez Khan, 24, and his associate Basheeruddin, 53, at HMT ground near ISRO quarters while they were allegedly waiting for a customer to hand over the consignment.

The duo were allegedly caught with samples of red sanders. After questioning, the accused confessed that they had procured 30.5 kg of red sanders from their contact, Sharukh from J.P. Nagar.

Based on their confession, the police raided the godown in Channapattana .

The duo has been arrested under various sections of Karnataka Forest Act and remanded to judicial custody, while efforts are on to track down Sharukh.
