Man held on charge of twin murders

The Peenya police have arrested the truck driver who allegedly murdered his wife and mother in law to death in their house on Tuesday night.

The accused Basavaraj (32), a native of Chitradurga, had murdered his wife Chandrakala (28) and his mother in law Omkaramma (62) by crushing their heads with a grinding stone while they were asleep in the house. According to a complainant, Kavitha, sister-in-law of the accused, and Ms. Chandrakala’s son Nandeesh had come to her on Wednesday morning stating that his mother and grandmother were unconscious and weren’t waking up.

Kavitha had rushed to the house only to see the women bludgeoned to death and lying in a pool of blood . The grinding stone, was also lying beside the two bodies. Basavaraju, who was absconding after the incident, was nabbed.
