Immigration officials on Thursday caught a 26-year-old man from Tamil Nadu who had landed at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) from Kuala Lumpur allegedly with a forged visa.

The accused, Muthukrishna Rajamani Anantha, a native of Tirunelveli, had been to Malaysia in September 2018 on a visit visa to look for employment and had allegedly overstayed. As he was unsuccessful in getting a job, he wanted to return and approached a tout, who assured to help him and forged the visa with fake dates of departure, according to immigration officials. However, Anantha was caught when immigration officials at KIA cross-checked his visa details and found the forgery.

The accused was booked on the charges of cheating and under various sections of Passports Act. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
