A quick trip to the City Civil Court and a brief phone call ended in a harrowing experience for Nandakumar, who works in a sari shop in Cubbonpet. “I was talking on the phone and stopped for a bit. The ground was slippery and I fell into a big crater. At first, no one saw me fall, and I was out of breath,” he said. Once in the pit, Mr. Nandakumar took a few minutes to calm himself. “After around 5 minutes, I tried to climb out myself, but the mud was very smooth and soft because of the rain. I could only manage to reach halfway and waved my hand out of the hole, when someone saw me. I was then helped out by a person driving an auto,” he said.

The ordeal, thankfully, did not result in any major injuries for him. “I have some scratches on my hands. I have to get my back checked as I am not sure if there are serious injuries internally,” Mr. Nandakumar said.
