The Karnataka High Court on Thursday set aside the short-term tender by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to procure 565 auto tippers for door-to-door collection of garbage.
The court held that the authorities had not given sufficient reasons to reduce the period of tender to 30 days, from the 60 days prescribed in the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurements Act.
However, the court did not interfere with eligibility criteria, like experience of having supplied a minimum number of similar vehicles to any government or local body, for participating in the tender process.
Chamundi Motors and two others had questioned the tender notification issued on January 4, 2018.
