The TCS World 10k run, on Sunday, saw participation from enthusiastic people of all ages, each vying with each other to reach the finish line.
Right along the route, spectators, who had gathered in large numbers, cheered the participants. As they reached the finish line, many participants were seen dancing to blood pumping music that was played by a disc jockey.
Jyothi H.K. (56) runs to “feel young.” She is now preparing for the 21-km Mumbai Marathon. Raji Srikanth (60), who has participated in other marathons in Chennai and Mumbai, was disappointed on Sunday as she had to run in a humid climate.
Colin Fernandes, who finished the race in 49 minutes, said he preferred the Bengaluru Marathon over TCS World 10k. Another participant Sriram Santaram (50), who reached the finish line in less than an hour, said he preferred the scenic route of the Cauvery Run.
The run also saw participation from runners, who were trying to better their previous performance.
Majja Run also saw a large number of participants. Over 350 runners ran for Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care (SRLC), which was raising funds for the Shrimad Rajchandra Vidyapeeth, a science college. The college offers opportunity to rural youth from over 238 villages of south Gujarat to study.
The theme ‘Caterpillar to a Butterfly - Transforming lives’ was well received. The SRLC team was awarded the coveted 'Jabong Run In Costume - Being Us', amidst an array of creative performances. They were one of the biggest attractions of the day.
