There has been a beeline for admissions in various city Pre-university (PU) and degree colleges, but students of schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) are anxious as their results have not been announced.

In a majority of the colleges, the names of CBSE and ICSE students will not make it to the first list as some have already been announced and some others are likely to be announced this week. The Indian School Certificate (ISC) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) results will be announced on May 14 and CBSE is yet to announce the day the results will be announced.

Though students are making multiple visits to colleges, many are asking students to return after the results are announced.

Tanishq Sharma, a student of Venkat International Public school, who wrote the class 10 exam, said, “Since the SSLC results are already out, I feel there will be very limited seats available for CBSE students like me.”

Shivani.K, a student from Treamis World School, adds, “The delay in announcement of results is giving a lot of stress both to students and parents. State board results have already come and the seats in universities are filling up soon. CBSE students, who are average performers, are at a disadvantage because the few seats reserved for CBSE and ISC students will obviously be given to the outstanding students.”

But college managements say their hands are tied. A.V. Chandrashekar , principal of PES PU College said, “The PU board has ordered us to commence classes earlier this year so we won’t be able to wait till the CBSE results are out. So we will stick to the schedule and release the first list. CBSE students will be admitted to our college based on their percentage and selected students will be placed in the second list.”

As many students are anxious of not securing a seat as their results will be late, many of them are showing their preparatory marks and taking up entrance test to “block” their seats.
