C&R rules of Forest Dept for recruiting sportspersons amended

The State Government has amended cadre and recruitment rules of the Forest Department for recruiting sportspersons in the department vacancies in Group ‘C’ and ‘D’.

A decision to this effect was taken at a Cabinet meeting held on June 1.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachnadra said vacancies of forest watchers, guards and deputy range forest officers would be filled under the sports quota. About 25 forest watchers, and 50 each guards and deputy range forest officers’ vacancies would be filled under the sports quota.

Currently, there are 284 watchers, 300 guards and 250 deputy range forest officers’ vacancies existed in the department now.

Remote Sensing

The Government has approved Rs 149.59 crore for Karnataka Remote Sensing Application Centre to augment its data operations and other activities. The Karnataka Jnana Ayoga too had recommended sanctioning of funds to the Centre for improving facilities such as maps, images and GIS.

The Central Government too would fund Karnataka Remote Sensing Application Centre to strengthen its facilities, Mr. Jayachandra said.

The Government has taken a decision to amend the cadre and recruitment (C&R) rules of the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT). Final notification on C&R would be issued after receiving objections from the public, he said.
