Chain snatching continues despite heightened security

A day after six women were robbed of their gold chains in various parts of the city, bike- borne men robbed two women in Koramangala and Yelahanka on Thursday morning.

Anupriya, a resident of Jakkasandra, was on her morning walk when two men in a black Pulsar robbed her of a 24 gm gold chain. The Koramangala police rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation.

Girijamma (55) was also robbed of her 40 gm gold chain in Yelahanka while on her morning walk.

Alert public caught a 21-year-old Sudanese national while he was trying to snatch a gold chain from a woman passing by in Weavers Colony in Nelamangala. Identified as Habib, he was a BCA student in a city college. He was thrashed and handed over to police.

In Banashankari

Two men on a black Pulsar robbed 72-year-old Mariyamma in Banashankari 1st Stage of her 40 gm gold chain. Mariyamma had ventured out of the house early in the morning when the duo struck her and sped away with chain before she could raise alarm for help. In a similar incident Subhadramma (68) was robbed of her 53 gm gold chain by two men on a bike. A resident of Girinagar, she was on her morning walk.

The Banashankari police have taken up both cases and put up check-points across the area to nab the culprits.
