Pratham Books, an NGO dedicated to children’s reading, is launching an online platform to connect donors and those who need books. Called “Donate-a-Book” platform, it is a crowd-funded initiative that reaches reading resources to children.
According to a release by Pratham, it has selected a set of organisations who are working to build better literacy skills among children. It features campaigns by these organisations, thereby making it easier for donors to choose from them. Suzanne Singh, Chairperson of Pratham Books, said, “We came to realise that there are individuals who would love to help contribute to the mission, but are unaware of how to do so. This led to the idea of a crowd-funding initiative. Every rupee donated on this platform goes towards the books and ensuring they reach the children for whom they are meant.”
As part of the launch, Pratham Books announced a donate-a-thon with the target to raise 50,000 books by September 15, 2015. For details, log on to donateabook.org.in.
