The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has informed the Karnataka High Court that it is reconsidering its special recruitment drive for filling up 237 posts under the ex-servicemen category.

The BMRCL counsel made a submission in this regard while seeking time to submit a response on a PIL plea filed by one B. Madappa, an advocate, who had questioned the notification issued by the BMRCL on June 17 with respect to special recruitment drive.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D.H. Waghela and Justice S.N. Satyanarayana adjourned further hearing till December 16 following a request by the counsel.

Of the 237 posts, 135 are carried forward from previous recruitments, the petitioner stated that there was no provision in law to carry forward the posts of ex-servicemen. “The facility of carrying forward posts is allowed only for SCs, STs and OBCs,” he contended. He has also challenged 102 fresh posts earmarked for ex-servicemen.
