Asia’s largest animation event kicks off

Brings together over 4,000 students from 25 colleges across Karnataka

The city is hosting Asia's largest animation, visual effects, gaming and comics (AVGC) events GAFX 2019. The three-day creative content exposition commenced on Friday bringing together over 4,000 students from 25 colleges across Karnataka.

Apart from thousands of animation students and aspirants, a large number of animation, visual effects, gaming and comics enthusiasts and professionals, industry veterans, academia, technology partners, animation houses, VFX and games studios and production houses are taking part in the event.

B.S. Srinivas, co-chair of Bengaluru GAFX 2019, said, “It is amazing to see such a large audience with a passion for creativity. It only indicates that Bengaluru is emerging as a leader in the AVGC sector.”

Organised jointly by the industry body Association of Bangalore Animation Industry (ABAI) and the Karnataka government, the event intends to identify and provide a global platform for creative talent.

Biren Ghose, president of ABAI said, “Industry stakeholders from all key animation, graphics, content markets, including the US, UK, Germany, France and Italy, are participating in the event. They include global production houses and top professionals, international movie studios and animation film content distributors.”

Competitions in traditional painting, digital painting, clay sculpting, 3D modelling, 3D character animation, 3D game art, story boarding and story writing are part of the event.
