Alert residents prevented silt and untreated sewage from being dumped into Nallurhalli lake from two tractors and an earthmover bearing a board saying ‘BBMP on duty’ on Friday.

“Tractors that did nit even have registration numbers, belonging to contractors, brought in silt and untreated sewage and dumped it on the edge of the lake. The fence got damaged as a result,” a resident said. He claimed the silt and sewage had been brought in by contractors engaged in dredging of stormwater drains in the nearby Garudacharpalya ward.

One of the residents who noticed the vehicles dumping stopped the drivers and contacted the area health inspector Ajith and the police.

Mr. Ajith seized the vehicles and filed a complaint with the Whitefield police.
