With Mahashivaratri — which is considered to bring an end to the city’s winter — just a couple of days away, summer seems to be already here as the mercury touched 35.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The temperature is only expected to rise from now on with the India Meteorological Department forecasting the maximum temperature for the next three days to be above 35 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature recorded in February in the city is 35.9 degrees Celsius in 2005.

Last year too, the highest maximum temperature in February was 35.5 degrees Celsius. S.M. Metri, director, IMD Centre, Bengaluru said that the temperature was only expected to rise owing to the absence of wind and clear sky.
