Supporters of MLA Krishnappa stormed into Vijayanagar metro station on Sunday and created a ruckus demanding a ministerial berth for the MLA.

A group of 250 members got into the train and shouted slogans against the government, creating a tense situation. The train movement was disrupted for few minutes, before police rushed to the spot and allowed the train to pass through.

The protesters pelted stones at shops and commercial establishments and on moving vehicles, disrupting traffic movement from Nayandhalli junction to Satellite bus stand for several hours. Additional police personnel have been deployed to monitor the law and order. The protectors who indulged in stone pelting were reportedly caned by the police to disperse the mob.

Protests intensified as supporters gathered with garlands and crackers in front of Krishnappa's residence anticipating that he would get a call from the Chief Minister's office with an invitation to Raj Bhavan for swearing in, but in vain.

Traffic was disrupted for over two hours due to the burning of tyres on the road, said Additional Commissioner of Police (West Division) Charan Raddy. The protesters blocked the entry and exit of metro stations to disrupt the Metro station service .

The protesters damaged the road dividers, disrupting traffic for over an hour.

Ruling party councillors of Vijayanagar and Govindrajnagar wards and members of congress block committee threatened to resign if the government did not give ministerial berth to Mr. Krishnappa. Commuters were put to hardship and passengers could not reach the metro because of the protests.
