Polling for the byelection to the Koppal Assembly Constituency on Monday was peaceful.
The average percentage of polling has been put around 65 per cent.
Barring some delay in commencement of polling at a booth in Bisaralli village in Koppal taluk, the polling was dull till afternoon in most of the booths.
However, it picked up after 2 p.m. The process of polling was delayed in Bisaralli owing to technical snag in the electronic voting machine. The polling resumed after a delay of 45 minutes.
People, including women in large numbers, were seen approaching the polling booths in the afternoon when a group of presspersons took a quick round of some of the booths in Bhagyanagar, Hiresindhogi, Alawandi, Bisaralli and Kavalur villages.
Women voters were enthusiastic than men while casting their vote at a booth in Hiresindhogi village. Hanumanthappa (82) and Siddamma (85) were assisted to cast their vote at the booth. The mustering of EVMs will be done at the Gavisiddeshwara Degree College in Koppal town. The counting of votes will be taken up on September 29 and results announced the same day.
