A woman teacher of a government school was reportedly attacked by a person with a sharp-edged weapon in broad daylight on the school premises in Domalagondhi village under Chintapalle mandal on Monday.

The accused was identified as K Rajesh, son of a former Maoist, while the victim was K Ratna Kumari.

However, police were yet to receive any complaint in this regard. Sources said that the accused had allegedly wanted to take revenge after the teacher repeatedly turned down his proposals for marriage and married someone else. According to reports, Ratna Kumari had gone to the school on Monday morning and after few minutes Rajesh reached the school and called her out of the school and struck her on the head with a sharp-edged weapon and fled the spot. The students and a few others took the injured teacher to a nearby government hospital for first-aid and later moved her to KGH in Visakhapatnam. Her condition was said to be stable.
