Chairman Sam Bob holds the first meeting after its reconstitution

New Chairman of VUDA B. Sam Bob has said development of infrastructure will be top priority of the VUDA to achieve balanced growth in the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region (VMR).

The Chairman, who is also the Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development, chaired the first meeting of the board on Thursday, after it was reconstituted recently.

Member-convener and Vice-Chairman of VUDA Kona Sasidhar, members -- district Collectors of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam Lav Agarwal, M. Veerabrahmayya and G Venkatram Reddy and Director of Town and Country Planning B. Purushotham Reddy and Municipal Commissioner B. Ramanjaneyulu -- attended.

Though the meeting was said to be introductory in nature, Mr. Sam Bob said the board would fulfil its responsibilities keeping in view the importance of the City of Destiny and its identity as a global hub. Areas such as tourism and investment would be given equal importance along with development of infrastructure.

Mr. Sasidhar explained the status of VUDA's various activities and its functioning through a PowerPoint presentation.

After the meeting, the Chairman along with the Vice-Chairman, the GVMC Commissioner and the Director of Town and Country Planning visited the works at YSR Park and Ozone Valley layout at Paradesipalem.

‘Landmark'

Mr. Sam Bob said VUDA was committed to developing the park into a landmark in the city. Amenities would be provided in the park to meet the requirements of all age groups and cycling and jogging tracks would be provided. Plans would be finalised after a visit to reputed parks in the country.

The Chairman asked the officials of VUDA to complete infrastructure in all layouts as per the specifications and go for allotment. He inspected the construction works relating to drains, culverts and a bridge in the Ozone Valley Layout.

VUDA Chief Engineer I. Viswanatha Rao and GVMC Chief Engineer B Jayarami Reddy and other officials participated.
