Timber auction fetches Rs.20.45 lakh

Auction at Bheemunipatnam has been postponed

The auction of timber, collected from various areas in the city in the aftermath of cyclone Hudhud, has fetched Rs.20.45 lakh.

The auction of the timber collected and deposited in lots at eight zones in the city and at Bheemunipatnam, was conducted by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) on Monday.

In all, 36 bidders participated in the auction. The auction of the timber deposited at Bheemunipatnam has been postponed.

The auction for zone-4 fetched the highest amount of Rs.5.30 lakh and the successful bidder was Chepala Chittibabu and the next highest amount was Rs.4.10 lakh for Zone-2 and the successful bidder was G. Laxamana Murthy.

The lowest amount of Rs.1.25 lakh was received for Anakapalle zone and the successful bidder was M/s. Sneha Enlisers.

The other successful bidders (bid amount given in brackets) were: Zone-1 – P.V.S.N. Raju (Rs.2.5 lakh), Zone-3 – M/s Vishnu Vidhyuth India Ltd (Rs.2.3 lakh), Zone-5 – M/s Sneha Enlisers (Rs.2.75 lakh) and Zone-6 – T.S. Raju (Rs.2.25 lakh).

GVMC Commissioner M. Janaki, Additional Commissioners G.V.V.S. Murthy (General), S.S. Varma (Finance), Chief Examiner G. Satyanarayana, Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Ravindra, zonal commissioners Satyaveni, Y. Srinivasa Rao, Ch. Narasinga Rao, S. Srinivasa Rao, B. Sanyasi Naidu, D. Chandrasekhar and Ram Mohan, and committee members, zonal supervisors and revenue employees attended.
